Purchasing Wolf Ammo?
The stuff is filthy, but cheap, for 7.62×39. It’s a Russian company. Any of you gun-nuts out there increasingly hesitant to purchase Wolf ammo due to what’s going on between Russia and Georgia?
I don’t know if reloading 7.62×39 is really worth it. I have a (newly refurbished!) SKS. Putting re-loaded Lapua brass 7.62 ammo through that SKS is like putting platinum spinning rims on a beat up ‘74 Gremlin. Why?
I don’t see a Russian conflict as making a difference. If anything, ammo prices will simply continue to rise. Russians are going to be shooting people regardless of whether I spend a few bucks on 40 rounds to go shoot vegetables at the local range. Have a different take?
Just wondering …

If I’m buying it at the range I get Wolf.
If I’m buying it beforehand I get Winchester White Box from the local Wal-Mart. 40 rounds for $25.
Typical WWB - absolutely filthy, need to soak the gun in CLP in the bathtub afterwards, but shoots just fine out of my Romanian WASR 10.

Hmm. Never used White Box. I use the Winchester Super X .22 ammo (500/box) for the Buckmark. Stuff works like a charm.
Wolf though … I’ve had fair luck with. Had a bad batch or three, but for the most part it shoots well so I’m willing to forgive the filthiness.
Now that “mildly corrosive” 7.62×54 Russian or Hungarian stuff. GAH … pigs are cleaner. Never misfires, though.

Nah. I’m not going to get all political & “make a statement” with ammo purchases.
‘Sides, I already got a fair supply of the short Russian…

No problem with wolf here, it is cheap and has always worked in my AR and AK. . . I just clean them good after.
