Police Settle Lawsuit Over Time Spent Putting On Uniforms

Lawsuits for getting dressed.

CONCORD, N.H. — Police in Concord have settled a federal lawsuit after the city agreed to start paying them to put on their uniforms before a shift and take care of paperwork and equipment afterward.

The police union had tried to get the department to change schedules after officers complained they were spending about 30 minutes of their own time each day gearing up and squaring things away. Now officers will get 20 minutes on the clock to suit up and wrap up for the day.

Why not demand compensation from the moment you wake up on a work day? How about the time it takes to set your alarm clock in the evening?

This is why I find it ridiculous:

The police union initially asked only for a schedule change and said it only brought the lawsuit when it believed it wasn’t being taken seriously.

Union bully. Nice.
