I grew up in Illinois -- NOT CHICAGO. When people read of Illinois in The Media (tm), they're usually reading about Chicago. The two are most definitely not the same. Those of us down state are typically at odds with the windy city. In Southern Illinois, the people are quite a bit different and not at all as squishy as the Cook County urbanites. I loved my childhood in Illinois, it's still a wonderful place, but increasingly the state is being run by Chicago and pushing all of its problems onto every one else. I'm pretty sure that many citizens of Illinois outside of the major city/cities would have no problem with free citizens carrying concealed weapons. A few thoughts on Illinois and its gun control policies.
